About us

Introduction

The Department of Industrial Management was established in 1973.  To meet the trends of knowledge economy, the rapid technical development, e-information, global competition, environmental protection and multi-values, the Department, aside from solving the problems of production efficiency and skills of traditional industry, moves onward to promote management efficiency and the integration of information to ensure better management results for the industry.  To equip the students with a better understanding of the pulse of industry economy and management practice, practical project researches and industry-academy cooperation are initiated to meet the demands of production process and business computerization.  In addition to prepare students for obtaining technician certificates, the Department also aims at cultivating managers-to-be with better management concepts and the abilities of integrated information and scientific skills to help promote the competition of industry.
 
The Department is located in an independent teaching building with labs for supply chain management, digital marketing, quality control, innovation design, industrial computerization, operation design and human factor engineering.  Besides, there are classrooms, computer labs, and other facilities to meet the needs of teaching, research and industry cooperation.  To support teaching, research and practice computers are upgraded on the annual basis.
 
There are nineteen faculty members in our Department, including five professors, five associate professors, two assistant professors and four PhD candidates specializing in management, information, internet, technology, production manufacturing, marketing and finance.  All of the teachers have acquired certificates related to industrial management. Twelve of them own industrial engineer licenses.
 
The Department aims to advance specialized talents engaged in modern scientific management and integrated information.  Graduates may choose to enter the job market to hold positions as industry managers, automation planning engineers, logistic center and supply chain management related managers, e-business managers, industry safety and health technicians, analysts, designers, planners and estimators in production or service system. In addition, they may continue to seek advanced degrees in institutions domestic or abroad.

Objective

Vision: To become a training center for “research and application with pragmatic innovations” and for incubating “industrial management experts” and to build a good reputation in industries and businesses.
 
The Department aims to advance specialized talents engaged in modern scientific management and integrated information. Graduates may choose to enter the job market to obtain positions as industry managers, automation planning engineers, logistic center and supply chain management related managers, e-business managers, industry safety and health technicians, the analysts, designers, planners and estimators in production or service system.

Future Prospectes

(1).Planning New Era Curriculum
       With the coming of “knowledge economy”, knowledge has been realistic.  Applying knowledge into practice is the true value of knowledge.
  1. Owing to the rapid development of technology, especially in information, communication and internet, causing a revolutionary influence on industry and our lives, the Department is ready to face this new challenge.  Based on E-information and internationalization, the Department offers various, flexible, specialized courses.
  2. Integrated course design combined with local industry characteristics will be helpful to students’ employment.
  3. To cope with national economic development and industrial trends, the Department invests all resources: software, hardware, faculty staff, and target courses to equip students with sufficient knowledge in e-business, high management efficiency, digital marketing net, operation and safety analysis, and quality control.
(2). Constructing Study Groups
       A new era of running management and applied information demands the Department to frame out theory and practice research focusing on the following fileds

(3). Emphases on Foreign Language Training and General Education
       We aim to cultivate specialized managers with foreign language ability, cultural background, and international vision.
