Department of Electronics Engineering Department of Electrical Engineering

About us

Indroduction

Our Department was firstly established as the Department of Electronic  Engineering in Vanung Junior College on August 1st, 1973

Its was renamed as the Department of Electronic Engineering when Vanung Junior College was renamed as Vanung Institute of Techology in 1999.

The Department was then sectored to establish the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering in 2001.

The Department was further sectored to establish the Department of Electro-optical Engineering, in 2003.
In 2004, the institute was renamed as Vanung University of Technology.

In 2007, the Department met all the requirements by IEET (The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan) and was certified .

The faculty consists of eighteen teachers and three administration employees.  Among the faculty members, there are twelve assistant professors or above, occupying more than of 52% of all faculty members.  Besides, there are four lecturers who are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees now.

To cope with the development of nationally emphasized technologies, Our Department aims to train our students as electronic professionals, who are expected to think independently, to be able to initiate new ideas, and to solve professional problems.

Objectives

The objectives of the Department are to cultivate well-trained professionals in electronic engineering, specifically in the areas of computer, control, communications and networks, and integrated circuits.
  • To build up for students the professional skills in electronic engineering, and to establish the abilities required for life-long learning and for sustaining growth.
  • To train the students for field practice skills, for practical and realistic working style, and for team-work spirit, aiming to build up their vocational competency.
  • To cultivate the students to be industrious in work and cooperative among colleagues, to respect the professional ethics, and to show loving care for the society.
The Department emphasizes on both theory acquisition and practical training, solidifying the faculty and improving the quality of teaching. We purchase newly updated facilities, introduce new technologies, and build various high-tech laboratories to enhance the competing ability of the students.

Future Prospectes

For the graduates from this department to pursue higher education, many opportunities are possible, i.e. attending the entrance exams for graduate schools not only in electronic engineering, but also in electrical engineering, information engineering, biomedical engineering, opto-electronic engineering etc.  The graduates do obtain the relevant fundamental knowledge required to go directly into these fields for advanced study and do have various career choices that other department graduates couldn’t possibly get.
Besides, the graduates also have better career opportunities than other department graduates do for various industries, such as computer and information, semiconductor, and communication, etc.  For those who want to pursue a career on research and development, they could try to apply to enter Taiwan Institute of Industrial Technology and Chung-Shang Institute of Science and Technology, etc.
